Sustainability
Redshark promotes sustainable video production. We’re committed to lowering the environmental impact of our business. We’re on a journey with our clients to make our videos more sustainable.
Travel is one of the key impacts of our productions that we consider. Our main crew vehicle is electric. We will travel to shoots by public transport whenever possible and we will source local crews where excessive travel would be required. We encourage video meetings with clients rather than travelling to meet.
International Network We operate a near-zero air travel policy for our video productions. We’ve built up an international network of like minded production companies and crews worldwide. This allows us to provide the creative and technical services our clients need overseas, without increasing our CO2 emissions.
Energy consumption Our office lighting and video lighting kits use LED bulbs. Lighting and electrical equipment is turned off when not in use in the office and on shoots. We have adopted re-chargeable batteries rather than disposable ones. We are mindful of our waste and dispose of kit that is no longer required responsibly.
Re-use of materials/props helps us reduce our production footprint.
Reducing We work totally digitally and run a paperless office. We don’t print anything and recycle any paper correspondence that we receive.
Reduce
We are working hard to reduce the amount of fuel, energy and materials that Redshark consumes.
Offset
We are members of a scheme which plants and protects trees in the UK and worldwide. Offsetting any carbon we are not able to reduce.
Support
We support businesses, charities and organisations that promote climate action. We actively engage in projects that align with our sustainability goals. Watch some of the examples below.
Dorset COP
Dorset COP was the first-ever community led Conference Of the Parties in Dorset, uniting the local community in urgent action to combat climate change, was held on Saturday the 9th Sept 2023 at the Corn Exchange in Dorchester. Redshark provided camera crews and live-streaming of the event to youtube and was proud to be a sponsor of the event.
Dorset Green Party
We regularly work with the Dorset Green Party to make films in support of their candidates at election time. Voting for leaders that prioritise climate change and sustainability, is a real impact that we as individuals can make.
Great Big Dorset Hedge
The Great Big Dorset Hedge is a long term campaign to facilitate the restoration and extension of hedgerows across all of Dorset.
We made a short film to promote the GBDH and the incredibly important work the volunteers do.
Realisation Festival
Realisation is a gathering that is part retreat, part symposium at St Giles House, Dorset. It is for those actively working at the interface between society and soul, and who feel the gravity of our times.
Filmed over 2 days in summer 2022, we worked with the festival organisers to create films and seminar coverage.
